Chelsea have made the signing of the 18-year-old American goalkeeper official Gabriel Slonina of the Chicago Fire, an American Major League Soccer (MLS) team. The contract is for six seasons.
Slonina, 18, one of the best goalkeepers in MLS, will remain with the Fire until the end of the American season, before joining the team of Thomas Tuchel. The regular season ends in early October and the play-offs are played between mid-October and early November.

The Fire did not provide financial details about the sale of Slonina, but the American media and Fabrizio Romano estimated that Chelsea agreed to pay an amount close to 15 millionmaking the goalkeeper Chicago Fire’s biggest seller.
