Catalan sprinter Bernat Canet will miss the European Athletics Championships in Munich, which will take place from August 15 to 21, due to some inconvenience, according to the Royal Spanish Athletics Federation.
Canet, 22, entered coach José Peiró’s squad list to compete in the 100 meters and the 4×100 relay.
The RFEA announced Canet’s departure with “some inconvenience that dragged from the indoor track and did not allow him to compete at one hundred percent.” These discomforts referred to by the federation are those that occurred in the left leg during the semifinal of the Indoor World Championships in Belgrade in March.
The absence of Bernat Canet, joined by Valencian long jumper Fátima Diame, was also announced on Wednesday due to injury, leaving the Spanish delegation for Munich at 91 athletes.
