Haaland scored his first Premier goal when converting a penalty, that ‘hammer’ goalkeeper, Alphonse Areola, focused on the Norwegian striker himself, a star signing for Pep Guardiola’s team in this summer market, from Borussia Dortmund. Ilkay Gündogan was also key to the game.
Areola entered the match because Lukasz Fabianski, West Ham’s starting goalkeeper, was injured. and had to retire in the 29th minute. Areola, who played for Real Madrid, left this summer to join the London club permanently, on loan from Paris Saint-Germain.
