Medvedev strengthened his number 1 before the storm

the russian Daniil Medvedev, who won his first tournament of the season in Los Cabos (Mexico) on Saturday, remains at the top of the ATP ranking published this Monday, with the Pole Hubert Hurkacz and the British Cameron Norrie, now 10th and 11th respectively, rising one position each.

The rise is happening at the expense of Jannik Sinner, who dropped two places. The Italian, winner of the tournament in Washington last year, decided not to participate in this year’s edition.

Rafa Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz remain in positions 3 and 4 waiting to attack Medvedev’s throne on the American tour that will take the tennis players to Montreal, Cincinnati and the US Open.

the australian Nick Kyrgioswho marked his rebirth by winning his first tournament in three years in Washington on Sundayrose 26 places to 37th of world rank.

The Wimbledon finalist has not been ranked higher since February 2020.

Japan’s Yoshihito Nishioka, who lost in the final in the US capital, rose 42 places to 54th, not far from his best ranking (48th in April 2020).

In addition to Nadal and Alcaraz, this week there are nine other Spaniards in the Top 100. They are Roberto Bautista (18th), Pablo Carreño (23rd), Alejandro Davidovich (36th), Albert Ramos (43rd), Pedro Martínez (53rd), Jaume Munar (56th), Roberto Carballés (78th), Bernabé Zapata (89th) and Pablo Andujar (92nd).
