British cyclist Dan Bigham will attempt to break the International Cycling Union (UCI) time record on August 19 at the Tissot Velodrome in Grenchen (Switzerland), currently at 55.089 kilometers, established by the Belgian Victor Campenaerts on April 16, 2019 at the Bicentennial Velodrome in Aguascalientes (Mexico).
Dan Bigham, UCI INEOS Grenadiers Team Performance Engineercurrently holds the British hour record at 54.723 kilometers, which he set on 1 October last year on the same stage in Grenchen, Bradley Wiggins’ six-year British reign was broken.
“I was excited about the prospect of seeing again what I could do against the clock; physically I have improved since I was part of the INEOS Grenadiers and even though I have a high workload, it’s nice to have everything I do together because it means I can be more organized in terms of how and when I train… It’s great to be able to exchange ideas with so many amazing people on the team.” explained Bigham.
“The work is not limited to the track, but every week the team competes in time trials on the road and there are many details that we study and that will help us improve our time trial in many aspects, both in speed strategies, thermal management or team building, everything is related”, said the British cyclist.
Dan Bigham’s attempt to break the time record comes after the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, from July 28 to August 8, where he competed on track and road, winning silver in the team pursuit.
