At the age of 34, López hangs his second European gold after that of March 20 in Zurich 2014. A year later and in the same category, he won the World Cup in Beijing. Held this summer at Eugene, he finished tenth in the 35, a test that premiered this year. Barely a month later, the Spaniard extends his spectacular record with gold in Munich.

Llano de Brujas’s made a good break at kilometer 5 of a test that started at 8.30 am. For the 20th he was already a minute ahead of his immediate pursuer, Swede Karlstrom, who succumbed to his knee and became nauseous in the final part of the race. López imposed a devastating and aggressive pace, unable to be overtaken by his rivals.

Raquel González premiered her record in international competitions with a spectacular silver after a race she sometimes led. The Catalan hiker completed the 35 kilometers in 2:49:10, two minutes below the record of the Greek Ntrismpioti, second in the world ranking. Third was Hungarian Madarasz, who led the start of the race. Mar Juárez of Barcelona was seventh and the Galician Antía Chamosa finished in a creditable fifteenth place.

González demonstrated in the capital of Bavaria the great form he is going through. In Eugene, he finished fifth in what was a serious warning for the European Championship. This Tuesday he did the test in seven minutes due to the slow pace, but he managed to shoot officially to hang his first absolute medal at international level. The 32-year-old from Mataró has given the best of himself in a year that started difficult.
