At least six companies – burglar quartet caught: investigations ongoing

A major manhunt was held this weekend in Hürm, district of Melk (Lower Austria). After the police were alerted to a break-in, they were able to catch a suspicious quartet of burglars and put them behind bars thanks to the use of search operations and helicopters.

The police were alerted in Hürm on Sunday morning because a building envelope had been broken into. When they arrived at the crime scene, the search was initially unsuccessful, but a small truck was found, which had previously been stolen. The vehicle contained computers, mobile phones, construction equipment and keys.

Hidden in cornfield
Two suspects were caught thanks to tips from a hunter. The burglars hid in a cornfield, but the burglars were caught using a thermal imaging camera and the use of police helicopters. After the police questioned the two suspects, it turned out that two other accomplices had fled by car. This vehicle was also located by the police and the two occupants were arrested.

At least six more acts
All four arrested suspects, a woman and three men, aged 22 and 23, were arrested and taken to St. Pölten and Krems prisons. In the course of the investigation, five crime scenes in Hürm and one crime scene in Loosdorf have been identified so far.
