The fine that can be given if you do not comply with these rules when pouring petrol

Date:

Gas stations are becoming more and more safe spaces, but handling fuel always has certainties
security risks, before the threat of possible explosions or fires. That is why the Traffic Regulations point to severe sanctions for those who do not comply with the protective measures.

As accustomed as you are to regularly filling up and handling a gas station hose, the truth is that we have to be careful with some regulations, not only for our own safety -and that of the local workers-, but also because we are under threat of
a fine of 100 euros.

First of all, something that comes from common sense: you must
turn off the engine of the fully fueled vehicle before adding petrol or diesel as they are highly flammable and thus avoid potential hazards.

In addition, they must
shut down electrical systems -radio, lighting, built-in televisions, chargers, etc.- and you cannot use electronic devices, such as
mobile phoneslaptops or tablets, because of the electromagnetic radiation they emit, so that it does not come into contact with the fuel elements.

All this is governed by Article 115 of the Traffic Regulations, which states that “the owners of fuel distribution systems or employees of the latter may not supply fuel for their cargo” if these regulations are not observed.
