The first plug-in hybrid Lexus RX is the ideal choice for customers looking for a large SUV

The joys of driving a large luxury SUV are very clear: it is a vehicle that can comfortably carry a large capacity of passengers, travel long distances with all the necessary space for luggage or recreational equipment. The cabin environment is perfectly controlled; the on-board entertainment system and connectivity are integrated and equipped with state-of-the-art safety features.

Currently there is another priority to consider: electrification, which maximizes efficiency in terms of fuel and emissions, whether you are traveling through the city or on vacation to a distant destination.

Lexus is ideally placed to provide the perfect solution: it not only created the luxury SUV concept, but was also the first brand to bring electrification to the premium car market 17 years ago. That impressive leadership has led to the RX 450h+, a plug-in hybrid model that will become the most successful option for European customers within the new RX range.

The recently confirmed homologated data shows how far the vehicle can go: CO2 emissions of 24 g/km, fuel consumption of 1.1 l/100 km and range in electric mode of up to 69 km. (WLTP combined cycle figures). The system power of 227 kW/309 DIN hp results in a snappy response and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.5 seconds.

However, these numbers only tell part of the story. What sets the RX 450h+ apart from its competition is what happens when the battery runs out. In most plug-in hybrid vehicles, the system switches to a petrol engine, which equates to more emissions and more fuel consumption, until it can be plugged into a wall outlet for charging.

In the case of Lexus, the vehicle goes straight into hybrid mode, charging the battery while driving, maintaining a high level of efficiency.
