The sector as a whole will grow 5.3% in 2022 with a total of 171,588 registered units
The motor and light vehicle sector closed the month of October with a total of 16,460 registrations, a growth of 3.6% compared to the same period last year. On an annual basis, the data remains positive compared to 2021 with a total of 171,588 registered units and a growth of 5.5%.
Jose Maria Riano, general secretary of Anesdor, has emphasized that «the data for the month of October again show the increasing interest of the user in the motorcycle, not only as a means of transport to meet their mobility needs, but also to enjoy leisure and motorcycle tourism . The scooters on the one hand and the conventional motorcycle of more than 750 cc on the other are growing in a month that once again leaves the sector with positive figures.
The increase in sales for the month of October was highlighted in the motorcycle market, which has registered a growth of 4.8% compared to October 2021, with a total of 14,318 units. Within this market, the scooter segment shows very good figures with a total of 8,261 registrations, which represents a growth of 10.6%. The conventional motorcycle over 750cc has grown by 20%, with a total of 1,984 registered units.
Mopeds fell by 3.3% in October with 1,306 registered units. In this case, this decrease is due to the decrease in the private channel, data that could be different if this vehicle were included in the MOVES plan.
For the rest of the light vehicles we find a decrease of 3.3% in the tricycles, with 232 registered units, and 11.9% in the quadricycles with 604 registrations.
The
electric motorcycle continues its growth in October with a total of 1,193 registrations (+25.1%), of which 780 motorcycles and 413 mopeds. In motorcycles, the private channel shows the strongest growth with an increase of 48.9% and in mopeds, the corporate channel is the one that provides the best data with an increase of 172.5%.
In terms of the electric motorcycle penetration share of the total market in the cumulative figure for the year, motorcycles represent 5.8% (8,692 units) and mopeds represent 32% (4,203 units).
