The first ice cream dealer opens in Finland

Date:

This pop-up store has already opened its doors on January 10 in the Arctic Circle city of Rovaniemi, Finland.

On January 10, 2023, Polestar Finland inaugurated a unique temporary Polestar Space made entirely of snow. The cube-shaped building, inspired by Polestar’s headquarters in Gothenburg, Sweden, is located on the Arctic Circle in Rovaniemi, Finland. During this first week of work, activities and experiences will be carried out with the Polestar 2 on a nearby snow track.

Inspired by the pure minimalist Scandinavian design of the Polestar headquarters in Gothenburg, the design of
12 meters high cube format This ‘Snow Space’ is located on Kansalaistori Square in Rovaniemi.

It is the second Polestar Space in Finland and one of approximately 130 Polestar Spaces worldwide. In sub-zero temperatures, Snow Space took over
20 days to build and follows Polestar’s global approach to architectural and retail design.

The use of circular materials is an important part of Polestar’s sustainability strategy. By experimenting with sustainable techniques and materials, the ‘Snow Space’ will also act as a platform for collaboration between Polestar and Arctic Design Week in Rovaniemi. Together they strive to promote and present sustainable and responsible design.

A total of 3,000 cubic meters of snow from the nearby ski resort of Ounasvaara, brought in by electric trucks, was used for construction. To close the loop, Polestar will return the snow to the slopes when the ‘Snow Space’ closes at the end of February.

Indeed, within the two-metre thick walls of snow, the all-electric Polestar 2 Fastback will be on display, along with details such as wheels, suspension and brakes handcrafted like ice sculptures by local artists.
