Which cars have to pass the ITV this month

Date:

The
General Vehicle Regulations stipulates that any vehicle registered or put into service must undergo a roadworthiness test. All those users who registered their vehicle in 2018 must pass the first ITV in 2022. To know in which month they have to do it, we have to take into account the letters that appear on the vehicle’s license plate. So from now until the end of the year, in the month of November the cars with license plates from KRJ to KRZ and in the month of December cars with license plates ending with the letters KRZ to KSS will be the affected cars. .

It is important to keep in mind that anticipating the ITV will not shorten the validity period. However, the inspection
can be claimed up to 30 days of course from the expiration date.

Once we have passed the first ITV, to check the dates when we have to re-pass it periodically, there are several alternatives. The first is to check the sticker we need to put
in the upper right corner from the windshield. it contains the month and year of the next ITV in Roman numerals.

We can also check it through the technical sheet, which can be on paper (barcode stickers or QR) or electronic. The latter’s original file is managed by the DGT and any changes are sent in real time from the ITV stations.

The third option is
view the latest report which they provided to us when passing through the ITV as this document contains the following expiry date.

A new vehicle must pass the first ITV four years after its first registration. From that date, it is inspected every two years.
When you reach 10 years must pass the ITV annually. However, doubts can arise if you buy a Kilometer Zero or a used car.

As reported by the
Spanish Association of Automotive Suppliers(Sernauto), it is important to note that the periodicity of the ITV varies depending on whether it is a new vehicle, a Kilometer Zero or a used vehicle.

With a Zero Kilometer it must therefore be taken into account that, regardless of the date on which we purchased it, this type of vehicle was previously registered by the dealer or manufacturer. Therefore we need to know this date in order to know the frequency with which you have to pass the ITV. This information
it’s on the driver’s license of the vehicle or in its technical file.

As for second-hand, they are cars that are usually no older than two years or run in for 25,000 kilometers.
The reference date to pass the ITV is the record dateso it is important to look at the exact date the car was registered and for what purpose.
