These are exclusive special models limited to 1,923 pieces
To celebrate its 100-year history, BMW Motorrad now presents the two protagonists of the heritage world, the R nineT Roadster and the large boxer R 18 Cruiser, as ‘100 Years’ special edition models. In keeping with the year BMW Motorrad was founded, so are both models
limited to 1923 units each.
In particular, the reduced design language of the R nineT is inspired by 100 years of motorcycles and BMW Motorrad’s unbroken passion for the boxer engine. The classic roadster design skillfully sets the tone with a compact tank and upright seating position, as well as high-quality materials and elegant design elements. The new R nineT 100 Years becomes one
exclusive anniversary edition thanks to many other special features. The heart remains the air/oil-cooled boxer-twin engine
109 hp. In the anniversary edition, the legendary engine is accompanied by a wide range of options and an extensive surface concept.
Numerous black components, such as the fork tubes, air intake tube and some components of the 719 option, complement it harmoniously. The R nineT 100 Years includes the option 719 Classic wheels with black anodized rims, the Option 719 Shadow machined parts package with machined cylinder head covers, crankcase covers, seat mounts, oil filler cap and the Option 719 Shadow II machined parts package, consisting of adjustable levers and a passenger footrest system , as well as caps for expansion tanks and bar-end mirrors. The adaptive cornering light and the comfort package with heated grips, cruise control and Driving Modes Pro round off the extensive equipment of the edition model. An anti-theft alarm system can also be fitted as part of optional equipment from the factory or via the range of Original BMW Motorrad accessories.
The unavoidable centerpiece of the R 18 100 Years is in turn the boxer engine
91 hp with the largest displacement ever installed by BMW Motorrad. Both technically and visually, the BMW R 18 borrows from famous BMW models such as the BMW R 5 and refocuses on the essence of motorcycling: purist, no-nonsense technology and the boxer engine as the epicenter of driving pleasure. The large boxer is supplemented in the anniversary edition of the R 18 with numerous special features and a high-quality surface concept.
The color scheme of the R 18 100 Years, like that of the anniversary model of the R nineT, is in Classic Chrome, combining black paintwork and high-gloss chrome surfaces with double white coating and the distinctive 100 years. The paint-on-chrome concept in Classic Chrome can also be found on the rear wheel cover in combination with the white double coating. The front wheel cover and side covers are painted black, complemented by the double white lining on the front fender.
The seat of option 719, upholstered in the two-tone black/fox blood combination, with high-quality diamond embossing, merges harmoniously.
Symbolic of BMW Motorrad’s great tradition, black also adorns the engine, gearbox and rear-axle transmission. The exact name is Avus Black, which is reminiscent of the legendary high-speed race track in Berlin, where BMW Motorrad once celebrated great racing successes and where the Avus monument with BMW Motorrad factory rider Ernst Henne still stands. The BMW Motorrad production site is also located in Berlin. The Berlin-Spandau plant is not only a production site, but is also the main plant for the international production of BMW Motorrad motorcycles.
