Achieve 47% market share in the utility segment thanks to the push of the 500 and the Panda
Fiat closes 2022 as a benchmark in Spain for the urban vehicle by capturing 47% of the market share of this type of car thanks to the Panda and 500 models. Data that has enabled the Italian brand, which celebrates its 120th anniversary, to register to November 14,467 units.
“Fiat’s principles remain the same after 120 years,” says the brand’s general manager for Spain and Portugal,
Alejandro Noriega, at the annual meeting with the press. Some principles that continue “the democratization of mobility with fun models, of Italian design and with an affordable price”, emphasized the manager.
To facilitate this democratization, and while the automotive sector is immersed in electrification, Fiat is going a step further with the agreement with the company E-Gap, a mobile charging company, currently only active in Madrid. This agreement, Noriega points out, will allow Fiat electric owners to make an appointment with these mobile charging stations when needed. At European level, Fiat is creating a charging network at European level with the company eSolutions. There are two agreements to solve the shortage of charging infrastructure that currently exists in Spain, Fiat’s general manager emphasizes.
These agreements go hand in hand with the good sales results achieved by Fiat’s electric models in 2022. Noriega emphasizes that until November, with 2,027 registrations, they were the fourth brand with the most vehicles sold. A result based on the good reception of the electric Fiat 500, which has positioned itself as the second best-selling electric car in Spain, after the Tesla Model 3, with 1,661 registrations, representing a growth of 81.9%. until 2021 and a market share of 6.1% in the electric passenger car category.
The contribution of the electric Fiat 500 has been crucial in taking the Italian brand to fourth position in the electric passenger car market, in which it has doubled its sales volume to 2,027 units registered, 113% more than last year.
In commercial vehicles, Fiat Professional ended a year of growth in which it ended the year in fifth place, with a market share of 6.8%. A result in which the electric versions of the Fiat Doblò, Scudo and Ducato stand out, with the top positions in the ranking and a penetration rate of 8.3% in the “zero emission” van category.
For Fiat, 2023 will be a year of growth and novelties, with electrification as the protagonist. In the spring, the Abarth 500 BEV will demonstrate that electric technology is not at odds with performance or sporty temperament. For the autumn-winter season, Fiat plans to launch new models in very diverse segments, but with electrification as a common element. In addition, the brand will expand its commercial network in Spain from the current 102 dealers to 112 outlets.
