Cupra is an ‘unconventional’ brand, which has surprised locals and strangers alike, exceeding all sales expectations both in Spain and Europe. With more than 80,000 units across Europe, the Formentor achieves 70% of sales, a percentage that rises to 80% in the case of Spain. The model is in the Top 15 of best-selling models in our country, making it the fifth best-selling car in the month of March.

Without being classified in the ‘premium’ segment, the brand has a very distinctive sports DNA, which has undoubtedly become one of the major attractions, establishing a very good commercial position in just a few years.

The Cupra Formentor now comes with a new ‘supervitaminada’ version, in a limited edition of 7,000 pieces, called VZ5. In addition to the characteristic aesthetic details that distinguish this car from the rest of its family, the most important is a 390 hp 2.5 TSi engine with 480 Nm of torque and five cylinders, which allows it to go from 0 to 100 in just 4.2 seconds. and with a maximum speed of 250 km/h. It thus becomes the most powerful mass-produced vehicle currently produced in Spain.

During the first contact with the model, carried out in the suburbs of Madrid, both on the highway and on sections of conventional roads with pronounced curves, we were able to verify the work carried out in order to achieve maximum sportiness, and immediate reactions both when stepping on the pedal of the accelerator and brakes as when turning the steering wheel.

To achieve this sensational performance, the car has a 10 mm lowered suspension, 6-piston ventilated brakes and 375 mm diameter discs housed in the exclusive 51 cm (20″) wheels, and CUPBucket seats which, although not They are the most recommended for a long journey in which we seek comfort, they are an example of grip and support. The configuration of the car allows us to choose between different driving modes, with 10 different settings. The Torque Splitter features and Drift mode stand out, which act on torque distribution, allowing for faster cornering. in the case of Drift mode, it is only recommended for track use.

To distinguish itself from the other ‘Cupra Formentor’, this version has a specific exterior and interior design that makes it more aggressive, with details in black and carbon fiber.

Under the LED headlights are two air intakes that make the look of the car more aggressive. For its part, the front splitter is responsible for directing the airflow to the intercoolers, improving cooling. At the rear, a carbon fiber diffuser stands out and the quadruple copper-coloured exhaust, positioned vertically, enhances the car’s personality. The CUPRA Formentor VZ5 will be available in Midnight Black body colors and two matt finishes: Magnetic Tech Matt and Petrol Blue Matt. There will also be a special version that is even more limited, with only 299 units, with specific finishes and, in this case, with the exclusive color Taiga Gray.

The most striking elements of the interior are the Cupra steering wheel with satellite buttons, the infotainment system with a 30.4 cm (12”) screen and the various connectivity solutions. The finishing touch is provided by the exclusive CUPBucket leather seats, very sporty and ergonomic, shown for the first time in the Formentor VZ5. These seats can be upholstered in Petrol Blue or Black leather. They are located in a low position, ensuring ergonomics and optimizing the space.

Behind the wheel we find a 26 cm (10.25 ») screen of the Digital Cockpit instruments and the 30.4 cm (12 ») screen of the center console, which offers functionality and connectivity to the occupants, in addition to reducing of the number of physical keys.

The 1280 x 480 pixel TFT display is fully customizable and includes a specific CUPRA display mode, developed by the brand, with engine and dynamics data: engine speed (rpm), power, torque, turbo pressure and G-forces. Added to this is the shift indicator light, which turns the instrument panel into a more emotional element focused on driving.

In the center console is the 30.4 cm (12”) capacitive screen for the infotainment system, with a resolution of 1,560 x 700 pixels. The system is based on the MIB3 platform and includes 3D online navigation and new interaction methods such as natural speech recognition or gesture control.
