They all homologate an autonomy of about 500 km with each recharge
If we recently stepped on the new Volkswagen ID.4, the first SUV of the 100% electric car division of the German brand, now is the time to do the same with the ID.5. We talk about the
coupe version of the aforementioned SUV, and the only difference with this is exactly in the side view. From the C-pillar, the drop from the roof is much more prominent, as happens in this class of models. This gives us a more attractive body with sportier tones.
Partly because of this, the
drag coefficient improves from 0.28 to 0.26 (0.27 in the case of the GTX.) In terms of autonomy, this translates into about 10 km more autonomy with each charge.
For the rest, we are dealing with an ID.4 with which it shares technological elements, CBG platform, finishes/equipment and engines. Even dynamically it is the same car. Thanks to
adaptive DCC suspension optionally, its behavior can be summed up in that it offers quite a high driving comfort when we drive on fast roads and at the same time offers surprising maneuverability in a car that weighs more than two tons when we drive through winding areas.
Of course, despite its sporty character, the feel of the address clearly prioritizes comfort and
driving comfort opt for a softness that we especially appreciate during urban manoeuvres.
The mechanical offer of the new Volkswagen ID.5 consists of three versions:
Pro, Pro Performance and GTX (The sportiest counterpart of what a petrol GTI would be, depending on the brand.) The base version delivers 174 hp and maximum torque of 235 Nm. It completes 0-100 km/h in 10.4 seconds and reaches a top speed of 160 km/h. The intermediate increases its power to 204 hp and 310 Nm and lowers the acceleration figure by two seconds. Finally, the most powerful – the only four-wheel drive – declares 299 hp and 460 Nm of torque. This enables it to reach 100 km/h from standstill in just over 6 seconds and reach a maximum speed of 180 km/h.
everyone equips one
77 kWh battery that homologates 520 km of autonomy in the Pro and 490 km in the GTX. Charging times depend on the charger and the cable, but in direct current (at 135 kW) they recover 80% of the autonomy in just half an hour.
Inside, we have slightly less headroom in the rear seats (access to the second row of seats is also a bit fairer if we compare it with that of an ID.4) and a trunk that
can go from 549 to 1,561 litersdepending on the seating configuration.
Of course, the user has the latest technology at his disposal
security assistants launched by the German group (Travel Assist, Park Assist Plus with memory function, Head-Up Display with augmented reality, etc.) and a very complete infotainment and connectivity package.
