These are the camouflaged vans that Traffic uses to pay

Date:

The arrival of the new road and road safety law has tightened the penalties for using the phone while driving, with a fine of 200 euros – the same as before it came into force – and the loss of six points of the driving licence.

In the event that the discouragement did not have the desired effect, Traffic launched a new monitoring system on the roads:
camouflaged vans which, aided by their increased length, can tell if drivers are following the traffic rules.

These came into action in the summer of 2020, but now the DGT has reported that their troops have increased, representing some 23 units circulating in Spain. The Social Drive platform, a network that allows drivers to inform others about incidents on the road, has published the most common locations of vans.

Many of them have PGC —
Civil Guard Park— on the number plate, but otherwise they are not indicated by an additional label identifying them. The vans are mostly white, but there are also blue or black units.

The model most commonly used by Traffic for its camouflaged vans is the
Ford Transit Custom: 20 of the 23 known copies are of this model. In Galicia there are four operational vans, one per province and three in the Canary Islands.

In Castilla y León they are in Salamanca and León; Asturias, two more, both in Oviedo; in Andalusia they are in Cádiz and Málaga; in Castilla-La Mancha in Toledo and Albacete and two more in the province of Valencia.

In Madrid there is another one, which is usually on the M-40 ring road and La Rioja, Cantabria, Badajoz and Mallorca have only one.
