The data shows that the sum of motorists plus weekends plus conventional roads; it’s a dangerous operation
This weekend, the Directorate-General for Traffic (DGT) is again launching a specific campaign on the roads most frequented by motorists to check compliance with the main regulations affecting motorcycling. With the arrival of nice weather
increase the displacements in this type of vehiclesespecially on weekends when these become a recreational activity in their own right.
For this reason, it is important to send a message of caution and respect for the rules as they have so far this year
49 motorcyclists died over the weekend on the highway.
This campaign therefore aims to reduce the number of fatal accidents involving this type of vehicle during weekends, for which the agents of the Civil Guard Traffic Group will intensify surveillance and check whether the regulations are being followed.
And the fact is that the sum of motorcyclists on conventional roads and on weekends is an operation that
high danger and the numbers prove it With the data recorded up to May 4, of the 361 deaths in road accidents, 71 were motorcyclists (20%). Of them, 83% died on conventional roads (59 motorcyclists).
As we mentioned earlier, these percentages increased in April with the arrival of good weather and the increase of motorcycle trips on the weekends. During this month, 24% of the 99 people who died were motorcyclists (24 people) and of these, almost 92% died in traffic accidents that occurred on conventional roads (22 motorcyclists). In addition, 100% of the motorcyclists who died at the weekend in April occurred on conventional roads (16 motorcyclists).
