Lexus at Milan Design Week

Date:

An installation that mimics the light and sustainable future

Converting space into an environment that transports you to another world is one of the challenges that artists face in their installations. Something the designer has achieved
Germaine Barnes with his proposal for Lexus at Milan Design Week. A subtle life-size silhouette of the new RZ model, the first model
pure electric with battery from the Japanese brand.

The model is made of wire and hangs from the ceiling in such a way that it seems to float, conveying the idea of a clean future without pollution. The silhouette of the Lexus RZ is illuminated by a collection of colorful Aqua Creations Code 130° silk lamps. Two swings are placed at both ends of the installation to allow you to think about the installation while swinging.

Lexus’ proposal is called ‘Sparks of Tomorrow’ –Flashes of Tomorrow–. The Lexus space in Milan during Design Week will also see the new prototypes of the Lexus Design Award 2022 finalists, as well as the work of students from London’s Royal College of Arts towards a more sustainable future.

Visitors will also have the opportunity to view the
works by the six finalists of the Lexus Design Award 2022, with a promising talent. The finalists were chosen by a jury of design personalities for their original solutions and contribution to a better future, which articulate the three core principles of the Lexus brand: anticipation, innovation and captivating; while promoting happiness for all. The finalists spent three months developing their original proposals and creating prototypes, guided by their enthusiastic and skilled mentors.
