Hyundai presents the new Staria, with a capacity of up to 9 passengers

The new Hyundai Staria is a minivan that defines the line that will be followed for the future multi-purpose vehicles of the South Korean company, available in 7- and 9-seat configurations and in two finishes: Tecno and Style; the latter takes mobility to the next level thanks to a range of enhanced features and exclusive finishes for a more luxurious finish.

The original exterior of the Staria is defined by a single line running from front to back. The front of the Staria is accentuated by LED daytime running lights and a position light which, in combination, span the entire width of the vehicle and are complemented by a wide grille with a unique design pattern. Hyundai uses the same color as the body color for all front parts to maximize the modern styling of the car. As standard on all finishes, 18-inch wheels feature diamond patterns and graphics, accentuating Staria’s premium look.

The low beltline and panoramic side windows improve all-round visibility and create a pleasant open feeling. The great use of the interior space of the Staria is possible thanks to a long wheelbase of 3.27 meters, an overall length of 5.25 meters and a width of 1,997 mm. The overall height of 1.99 m has been optimized so that passengers can get in and out of the vehicle comfortably.

The new Staria has a 2.2-litre four-cylinder turbo diesel CRDi engine, which, together with an eight-speed automatic gearbox, develops an output of 177 hp. Traction can be front in the 9-seat version or 4-wheel drive in the 9-seat model. The Staria has three driving modes to adapt the car’s handling to the driver’s needs: Eco, Normal and Sport. Hyundai has optimized every mechanical option to achieve minimum levels of noise, vibration and harshness and good acceleration. In addition, the powerful braking system, both calipers and discs, ensures a powerful braking force despite the large size of the vehicle. In addition to mechanical optimizations, the aerodynamic design of the upper body and improvements in the lower body result in a low drag coefficient for lower fuel consumption.

Inside the Staria there is plenty of space, with an eminently practical design. The vehicle’s low waistline and large panoramic windows create a spacious environment for all passengers. The glovebox for the front passenger seat has been moved forward to provide more legroom. The driving position has a futuristic look, with instruments that include a 10.25-inch screen, a touch center console and an electronic shifting system with buttons. The digital instruments are located at the top of the dashboard, giving the driver an unobstructed view. Depending on the passengers on board, the luggage space can be up to 1,303 litres; with nine seats occupied, it remains at 831 liters.

The large passenger legroom offered by the Staria is one of the best in its segment and can be converted into extra luggage space when all the seats are pushed together, which is made possible by the Staria’s forward/backward sliding function. On the other hand, the completely flat shape of the rear seats makes this vehicle particularly suitable for those activities that require a lot of space and interior flexibility, such as camping and sports that require a lot of equipment.

The new Hyundai Staria has six airbags in addition to other safety features, such as the market’s first seat-belt reminder system to use wireless communication technology, allowing passengers to enjoy the benefits of seat-belt warning. It is also equipped with the latest Hyundai Smart Sense active safety protection and driver assistance systems, including, for example, Forward Collision Avoidance Assist with Intersection Assist; lane-following assistant and blind spot protection. All of these are complemented by a browser-based Intelligent Cruise Control to anticipate upcoming bends or straights and adjust vehicle speed for a safer ride.

The HDA Road Driving Assistant controls the speed of the vehicle and maintains the distance to vehicles in front and the position within the lane on the road. Smart Speed Limit Controller warns drivers with visual and audible warnings when they are speeding and exceeding the speed limit; In addition to displaying the speed and warning the driver, the system can even adjust the speed autonomously. Finally, Safe Exit Warning Assist warns occupants if it detects oncoming traffic trying to get out of the vehicle, while Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Avoidance applies the brakes if a rear-end collision is imminent.

The Staria minivan offers advanced connectivity technology that enhances its premium character. Users can enjoy a multimedia environment that features a 10.25-inch digital instrument panel, a 10.25-inch information display, fully automatic climate control and a premium 12-speaker Bose audio system. The 10.25-inch full-touch screen includes connectivity via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, connectivity to Bluelink connected car systems and integration with multi-connection Bluetooth and a wireless smartphone charger. It is also equipped with a wide-angle camera that allows the driver and passenger to see the rear seat passengers on the screen.
