100% electric driving experience

Respectful. Juke, Nissan’s iconic compact crossover, features an advanced hybrid powertrain that delivers high performance and improved efficiency

The new Juke Hybrid now has a state-of-the-art hybrid engine in its range that will make city driving a new experience. Designed to increase responsiveness and optimize efficiency, drivers and passengers will appreciate always starting in 100% electric mode, thanks to the new intelligent multi-mode gearbox, while saving fuel thanks to regenerative braking and other components that make up the hybrid system. exists, such as the powerful battery.

The central aim of this new hybrid powertrain was to complement the agile and dynamic personality of the new Nissan Juke, so appreciated by customers of the combustion engine version.

Where traditional hybrids offer a thankless driving experience thanks to the combined operation of the combustion engine and the electric motor, the management of the new Nissan Juke Hybrid distinguishes itself by maximizing the time in 100% electric mode, which is much more appreciated by customers. A key goal of Nissan engineers was to reduce the frequency of engine starting and stopping, which is especially inconvenient for drivers. This increases driving pleasure and optimizes efficiency.

During the latest engine validation tests, up to 80% of urban driving is achieved in 100% electric mode, with short hybrid phases to recharge the battery before switching back to electric mode. In addition to starting 100% in electric mode, the Juke Hybrid can reach speeds of up to 55 km/h in electric mode, providing drivers with a sustainable, consistent and spirited driving experience.

Engine management automatically maximizes operation in electric mode, and in addition, the new Juke Hybrid has an ‘EV’ button on the dashboard that the driver can use at will to force the gear into electric mode, such as when driving in residential areas, around school zones, parking lots, drive-ins and traffic jams. If the battery’s state of charge allows, the new Juke Hybrid will function as a 100% electric vehicle.

The new Juke’s hybrid powertrain consists of a state-of-the-art Nissan internal combustion engine that has been specially developed to work in hybrid applications. It produces 69 kW (94 hp) and maximum torque of 148 Nm.

On the electrical side is the main engine producing 36 kW (49 hp) and 205 Nm of torque, combined with the 15 kW high voltage starter/generator, inverter and 1.2 kWh water-cooled battery.

The result is a powertrain that delivers 25% more power than the current petrol engine option, reducing fuel consumption by up to 40% in the urban cycle and up to 20% in the combined cycle.

The key to even more driving pleasure is an advanced, low-friction multi-mode gearbox that makes optimum use of propulsion power, be it electric, petrol or both.

To reduce friction, this gearbox uses pressure clutches instead of conventional synchronization rings to shift the four ‘combustion’ gears and two ‘electric’ gears. To reduce friction, this gearbox also does not use a clutch. All vehicle starts are 100% electric and the two electric motors are used in combination to synchronize the gears, ensuring smooth, constant and instant acceleration.

As with the 100% electric Leaf, the new Nissan Juke Hybrid is equipped with Nissan’s e-Pedal Step system which, when activated, can control the car’s movement solely with the accelerator pedal. When you take your foot off the accelerator, the braking is moderate (to 0.15g) and the Juke is decelerated to a creep speed (~5 km/h). Additional foot braking may sometimes be required to slow down and is required to come to a complete stop (auto-hold function can be selected for convenience). Using the e-Pedal quickly becomes intuitive and the effect is to reduce the driver’s workload while driving in the city, providing a smooth, safe and relaxing driving experience, while enhancing the hybrid battery regeneration capabilities. are maximized, allowing the 100% electric experience.
