The $20 piece that can’t cool your air conditioner in the middle of a heat wave

Date:

Checking that the air conditioning is working at full capacity before embarking on a long journey in the summer is a gesture we’ll appreciate, especially if we want to avoid driving at nearly 40 degrees, sweating and endangering road safety. And in many cases, it can simply be a matter of replacing the cabin air filter, an operation that costs barely between 10 and 20 euros, according to Euromaster, a specialist in comprehensive vehicle care and maintenance.

Replacing the cabin filter is a simple operation, in the vast majority of vehicles, which the manufacturers recommend to perform
every 20,000 kilometers or in case it gets clogged, which is common in the spring when pollen comes on the scene, leaves build up around the vehicle and dirt. This “cocktail” eventually causes our air conditioner to run on half gas or barely.

Another element that also affects the air conditioning performance is that:
just run out of gas, turning a long journey into a real ordeal. For the gas tank operation, the price can vary from 50 to 150 euros, depending on the type of gas with which the vehicle is equipped. Making an appointment is of course not necessary and is arranged within 30 minutes.

Euromaster recalls that heat and high temperatures pose a greater risk to the driver at the wheel by causing fatigue and reducing reflections. For this reason, it is important to regulate the temperature in the passenger compartment so that it remains stable between
20 and 22 degrees.

Likewise, it recommends the review of the critical points of the vehicle, taking into account elements such as the coolant, tires, oil, braking system, suspension, lights and the battery, thus ensuring that the vehicle does not leave the driver lying on the ground. the gutter
