One third of the models manufactured in Vigo are 2008
The history of the Peugeot e-2008 is the story of a success, according to

“More than a third of the cars we sell in Spain leave the Vigo factory. And of that, one in three cars produced in Galicia is a 2008,” says Mendes, who goes on to add “that it is the factory that produces the most electric vehicles in all of Spain”. Also remember that 2008 is assembled exclusively at the Galician factory in Porriño, who was the first to specialize in electricity production: “It doesn’t matter which country we are in, if we see an e-2008, it has left Vigo,” he says.
The Peugeot 2008 is the third best-selling car in Spain and the second in the SUV segment. The model will be marketed in four finishes, and Peugeot’s general manager points out that 75% of the model’s sales are made from the highest-finish versions, the Allure and the GT.
The e-2008 has a 50 kW battery with a range of 345 km and a remarkable acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 9 seconds, typical of electric models.
The Vigo plant produced 493,000 vehicles in 2021, equivalent to 2,300 per day. The process involves 6,400 people, jobs multiplied by 5 by the indirect jobs generated in the area.
The investment Stellaantis made in the factory last year was 31.2 million and has 125 suppliers in the area. The models from the Vigo factory are exported to more than 50 countries.
75% of the cars assembled in Vigo leave by ship, 22% by road and 3% by rail. This indicates the crucial role that the port of Vigo plays in the logistics process of car transport.
The facilities of the Galician Stellantis plant houses a battery workshop in which 10 million euros have been invested in 2021. This workshop produces 120,000 batteries per year, approximately 20 batteries / hour. This installation is central to the company’s electrification policy, which will only market electric cars by 2030.
