The French brand’s flagship evolves aesthetically and launches a new powerful plug-in hybrid engine

In 2017, the DS 7 Crossback laid the foundation for a DS Automobile that was 100% independent from Citroën. Now the young premium brand of the Stellantis group
renews its flagship modelin an update for which it gets changes both in the exterior and in the interior and in the mechanical offer, and also loses its last name “Crossback”.

The new DS 7, which will be launched in September (although the first deliveries will start in October), will receive a new radiator grille, wider and with triangular elements in parametric evolution; while on the back the main change has to do with the ‘lettering’, which goes from showing off “Crossback” to ”
DS Automobiles The sidelines have also evolved, to offer a more muscular look.

Both front and rear, the main changes relate to the headlamps, which have been slimmed down and equipped with new lighting technologies. The rear headlights are more profiled and show an evolution of their design in the form of shells, as well as a stronger and more homogeneous illumination. Meanwhile, on both sides of the grille, the DS 7 includes the new

In addition, the focus of three DS Pixel Led projectors groups three modules, more powerful and capable of generating a beam of light sufficient to illuminate 380 meters on the road and 65 in the city. Each module has 84 Leds managed in three levels of 28 Leds, which allows to improve the homogeneity of the light, the luminous flux and the lighting range: unlike what happened in the first adaptive lighting systems, which oscillate according to the curve to illuminate the path, now the external LEDs increase the brightness by up to eight degrees depending on the angle of the curve.

Inside, the decoration is smoother and with less stitches in Opera and Rivoli versions in Nappa leather and Claudia leather respectively; and a new interior lighting motif has been incorporated based on the
Guilloche Clous de Paris, the watch-inspired perforated trim that finishes the central tree and doorways. In addition, there are new wheel designs, between 19 and 21 inches.

Mechanically, there are also novelties, as a new engine has been added to round out the offer, a 360CV plug-in hybrid. A total of three plug-in hybrid versions will be available: 225, 300 and 360CV, in addition to a 130CV diesel engine. All hybrid versions will have a higher capacity battery, with 14.2 kWh, which will allow them to travel 65 kilometers in a mixed cycle in 100% electric mode and up to 81 in urban areas.

The new DS 7 E-Tense 225 has a PureTech 180 petrol engine and a 110 hp electric motor integrated into the eight-speed automatic transmission with two-wheel drive. The new DS 7 E-Tense 4×4 300 and DS 7 E-Tense 4×4 360 have a 4×4 transmission with a PureTech 200 engine and a 110 and 112 hp electric motor coupled to each of the axles. The 360 version
receives specific customizations made by DS Performance: especially with optimized energy management. The body has been lowered by 15 mm, the tracks have been widened and the front brakes have been enlarged to a diameter of 380 mm. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is 5.6 seconds

There are also changes in the
multimedia section The redesigned high-resolution 12-inch touchscreen includes a menu made up of widgets to access all functions with one swipe: to manage connected navigation, air conditioning, digital audio sources and all travel data.

The new model will also equip improved versions of the assistance systems already included in the current model. Among them, the DS Active Scan Suspension, which detects obstacles on the ground through a camera and injects oil into the shock absorbers to resolve them; and night recognition by infrared DS Night Vision. In addition to the driving assistance system DS Drive Assist, level two on the scale of autonomous driving.
