For the first time in the Agency’s history, the campaign focuses on accidents on interurban roads, a fatal road accident of which people are hardly aware and whose knowledge is in most cases limited to the family or personal environment.
More than 100 people die each year when they are hit on the road, an unknown number that receives little attention unless the deceased is a famous or well-known person. For this reason, ‘Knowing it begins to avoid it’ is the slogan chosen to draw attention to these types of traffic accidents and, to be aware of this, Tráfico has resorted to two well-known figures; the singer and songwriter

Both explain some of the causes for which every year and in our country more than 100 people die from being run over; some because of not wearing reflective elements, others because of the driver’s carelessness, crossing in the wrong places or just working on the road… all these situations, more often than expected, can lead to fatal accidents.
One of the reasons that led the DGT to focus the summer campaign on abuses is the high number of such fatal accidents. Last year, 110 people were run over, which is 10% of the total number of deaths. If only the summer period is taken into account, 23 deaths were recorded last summer, 2 less than the summer of 2020 when this was already covered at the start and 9 more than in the summer of 2019.
To ensure that the campaign reaches as many citizens as possible, two television advertisements, two radio spots that can be heard on the main radio stations in the country, several graphics for print media and several pieces for digital media and social networks including a ‘making off’ how the production of the advertisements has been carried out by their protagonists. In addition, the campaign can also be seen this summer in cinema circuits and outdoors in urban advertising elements.
