The new Rebel CMX1100 pays tribute to the silhouette of the big rubber bobbers, an icon from another era
Thanks to its individual look, as well as its easy and agile handling and fun engine response, the Rebel CMX500 has been enjoyed and modified by drivers all over the world. But now they want more. The family resemblance is immediate, but the Rebel CMX1100 has so much more. Signature high-torque parallel-twin engine, electronic throttle, four riding modes, selectable torque control and hitch control.
Cruise control is standard and the unique six-speed dual clutch transmission is optional. Plus, this handsome cruiser is built for cornering too: 43mm cartridge-type front forks, matching rear shocks and a four-piston radial-mount front brake caliper take care of it.
Whether you want to ride quietly or go a little faster, this motor helps. Maximum power of 64 kW and maximum torque of 98 Nm, not unimportant figures that will brighten the day every time the accelerator is pressed. Less obvious, though, is that the compact dimensions perfectly centralize the masses, resulting in a low center of gravity with maximum ground clearance.
The default low-speed mode is relaxed, but as revs increase it unleashes a lot more potential. Rain mode provides low engine power and low engine braking, and is combined with high hitch control and HSTC for increased safety or relaxed driving. Sport mode offers aggressive power, with low hitch control and little intervention in HSTC. User mode allows full customization.
As for the gearbox, you can choose between a six-speed manual or a unique six-speed DCT, which offers manual gear changes (with shift paddles on the left handlebar) or smooth, automatic performance with a rate of change to match the drive mode selection.
