A 16-year-old dead passenger, a seriously injured 19-year-old driver – this horrifying photo presented itself to first responders and emergency services on a street in Oftering near Linz on Thursday evening. The car came to a head-on stop against a tree and broke in two.
The accident happened on Thursday night on the L532 (Hörschinger or Ofteringer Straße) in the municipality of Oftering. The van carrying the two youngsters from Linz ran off the road near Oftering and came to a close head-on into a tree at a clearly high speed.
The Renault Kangoo broke in two. The front of the vehicle came to a stop in front of another tree, the rear rolled over an adjacent field, where it came to a stop. Contrary to the initial information, no one was trapped, but the consequences were dramatic.
All help came too late for the 16-year-old passenger. The second person, the 19-year-old driver, received first aid and was then taken to hospital. The emergency services searched the scene for any other persons involved. After the detectives had collected evidence and recorded the accident, the fire brigade together with the towing company carried out the clean-up work at the accident site.
The L532 was blocked for about two and a half hours between Hörsching and Oftering.
