“Do you want to experience Christmas yet?” an armed man asked an employee at the Lower Austrian manor on Thursday, then pulled out a box cutter. What followed was a spectacular police operation in which the threatened employee became a hero himself. The “Krone” knows the details.
Even the day after, the shock is still deep among the employees in the government district. On Thursday at 2:55 pm, a 51-year-old man from the St. Pölten district entered an office in the manor. Apparently, the conversation about the benefit or compensation from Coronahulp did not go as the 51-year-old wanted. He took out a box cutter and pointed it at the responsible supervisor, a 31-year-old man living in Vienna.
Victim became hero
Despite threats such as the question: “Would you like to experience Christmas?”, the Viennese had the guts – and became a great hero. “The victim showed civil courage and deliberately continued to focus the conversation on himself to keep the danger to other colleagues in the office low,” the state police said.
lured out
Through a knowledgeable conversation, the employee also managed to lure the perpetrator out of the office. Meanwhile, the office colleagues alerted the police. Once outside, the threatened employee immediately fled. Moments later, the police arrested the assailant.
Own security personnel
Fortunately, no one was injured in the operation. However, on Friday, security measures in the government district will be tightened and its own security personnel will be deployed to protect the employees. According to the police, the perpetrator was under the influence of alcohol and will be questioned on Friday.
