Two boys in Kherson, southern Ukraine, were extremely lucky: they found an anti-tank grenade launcher and played with it on a deserted street in the Russian-occupied city. Suddenly the gun went off, but miraculously the children were unharmed. A security camera filmed the shock moment (see above).
The video shows how the boys handle weapons carelessly: one with a grenade launcher, the other apparently with an AK-47. The kid with the anti-tank weapon lifts it onto his shoulder and even briefly points it at his playmate. Then he puts the gun down again – suddenly there is a shot.
Shocked but unharmed
Shocked, he throws the gun on the ground, both boys run away. They were apparently unharmed. Only the fence hit by the grenade takes damage.
It remains unclear how the children got their hands on the weapons. They may have found them in the city taken by Russian troops in March. If they are armed intentionally, it is a violation of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, which prohibits the recruitment of minors as child soldiers.
