Almost head-on against a tree – that was the death penalty for a 35-year-old driver in Kematen an der Krems (Upper Austria) on Friday evening.
The car left the road for unknown reasons that evening. The car went over a barrier, then crossed the road again and came to a nearly head-on stop against a tree on the left side of the road.
An ambulance helicopter also arrived
Two fire brigades, the rescue service including the emergency doctor helicopter “Christophorus 10” and the police were present. Emergency services were alerted by a serious traffic accident near the village of Schicklberg.
Passers-by had already found the steering wheel
“The Achleiten and Rohr fire brigade in Kremstal was alerted shortly before 7.30 p.m. on Kremsmünsterer Straße for a road accident involving a trapped person. The accident site is a little further away from Schicklberg. When we arrived, we found a vehicle leaning against a tree had collided, the driver had already been rescued from the vehicle by passers-by and the Red Cross had started CPR,” said Andreas Steiner, head of operations at the Achleiten fire brigade.
CPR was not successful
The resuscitation by the rescue service and the team of the emergency medical helicopter “Christophorus 10” was unfortunately not successful. The 35-year-old died at the scene of the accident.
