Hundreds of people attended a memorial service in Moscow on Tuesday for Darya Dugina, who was killed in an attack. Her father, the ideologue close to the Kremlin, Alexander Dugin, and his wife also attended the official celebration at a TV center. “She died for the people, for Russia, at the front. The front – it’s here,” the ultra-nationalist intellectual, who is considered a close adviser to Putin, said at the start of the ceremony.
According to media reports, at the funeral, Dugin called on the Russians to fight in accordance with his ideology.
“New Russian Empire”
Alexander Dugin has long championed an ideology that aims to unify Russian-speaking areas into a new Russian empire. Based on this conviction, he also supports the Russian war in Ukraine. His daughter shared this belief and followed in his footsteps as a well-known media personality. The 29-year-old has worked for TV stations near the Kremlin, such as Russia Today.
Darya Dugina was killed on a highway near Moscow on Saturday night after a bomb exploded in her car, Russian investigators said. According to Russian media, the actual target of the attack may have been her father, who was sometimes even referred to as “Putin’s brain” or at least regarded as an important mastermind of ruler Vladimir Putin. According to observers, Putin has recently been trying to distance himself from Dugin.
Russia’s domestic secret service, the FSB, blames Ukraine for the crime, which Kiev vehemently denies.
