The hot topic for many St. Pölten residents is the waste heaps along the Traisen after the Frequency Festival – and that is also the case this year.
The Frequency 2022 is history. About 150,000 visitors celebrated the party of the year in St. Pölten. After four days in the best festival atmosphere, including heat and storm, the big cleaning has now started. Those responsible have ten days to clean up the waste that has been left behind. Those who were quick on Sunday could obtain complete camping equipment on the site along the Traisen. Experienced people even went “armed” with shopping carts in search of bargains.
Tons of waste to be disposed of
To the dismay of many residents: “That is a bottomless cheek. Two people took things from the festival that they had left behind and just left the carts in front of the house,” says an angry woman. demonstrate every opportunity for the climate and the environment, show at such big events that they don’t care about nature at all,” Johann Rankl also told the “Krone”.
Despite campaigns such as the green camping area for environmentally conscious partygoers, rentable eco tents or vegetable teams that voluntarily collected waste during the festival, the topic contains many explosives year after year. In 2019, Frequency collected around 335 tons of waste.
Festival returns to Greenpark in 2023
Nevertheless: the mega festival will take place again in St. Pölten in 2023 – the first acts such as Kraftklub and Mathea are already booked. From 17 to 19 August it’s that time again: party atmosphere – and probably mountains of rubbish again – along the Traisen.
