There is probably a fiver from many students! A Carinthian primary school director is – reportedly – charged with fraud because she and her daughter wanted to swindle a scholarship from the community. Both women admit to the affair, but feel completely innocent “for legal reasons”.
“I knew it was wrong,” admits the 21-year-old, who pretended to be a student with a fake enrollment confirmation and wanted to get funding of 100 euros per semester. “So I called Mom and told her to withdraw the application from the municipality.” From this, the two deduce that they did not commit a crime – they see a “resignation of the attempt”, which guarantees impunity. “I didn’t know,” adds the educator. “You didn’t know that a school is not the same as a university?” Judge Uwe Dumpelnik is stunned. shrug.
The next negotiation will show whether the tactics of innocence and ignorance are wise. After all, there is serious fraud. Both mother and daughter have already received their most severe sentences: the girl was expelled from school, the mother was recalled as principal and is now working as a teacher again.
