Wanted turned – Hitler salute manhunt: track to neo-Nazi meetings

Date:

A man turned himself in after the publication of mugshots by the Vienna police. On Monday they published photos of two suspects who in May at the Hütteldorfer Straße U3 station in Rudolfsheim shouted Nazi slogans, made xenophobic statements and displayed the Nazi salute.

The suspects also allegedly harassed passengers. “One of the men then turned himself in to a police station,” the director reported on Wednesday. The second is still being sought.

Relevant information is requested from the criminal law department of the city command of the police in Fünfhaus, on telephone number 01/31310-47810.
Reports can also be made anonymously.

Suspicious known neo-Nazi?
The man who turned himself in is said to be a known neo-Nazi who reportedly attended a rally of the relevant scene in the federal capital before the crime at the U3 station. This reports “Österreich RechtsEXTen”, a civil society research network on right-wing extremism and neo-Nazis in Austria, on its website and on Twitter.

When asked by the APA how it is possible that a neo-Nazi known in the scene could be publicly sought as an “unknown person”, police said that “the people were not known in the available photos”.

Investigations into Nazi rallies are ongoing
As the police themselves have repeatedly emphasized, such a public search is only carried out after all investigative efforts have been exhausted and an order from the public prosecutor is required. Regarding the neo-Nazi rally on August 13, “the responsible authorities are aware and are investigating,” a police spokesperson said.
