Animal rights activists in the UK have rescued a marmoset whose owner was nearly flushed down the toilet. As the animal protection association RSPCA announced on Thursday at the request of the German news agency, animal rights activists became aware of the monkey’s fate in the Welsh town of Newport through videos sent to them from mobile phones.
It shows the owner trying to flush the animal down the toilet. In other videos, the woman offers the animal cocaine or hot porridge to burn. A child’s laughter can be heard in the background.
“Milly” now has a partner named “Moon”
According to the RSPCA, the initially terrified female monkey named “Milly”, after being rescued in January this year, was taken to a monkey house in Dorset, England, where she has now been able to recover from the abuse. It even found a mate named “Moon,” the statement said. “‘Moon’ was quick to respond to ‘Milly’s’ calls for help and was always by her side to offer encouragement – this has helped her regain her confidence,” the statement said.
Now the couple is inseparable and they enjoy hunting insects and being together in their large enclosure. According to the PA news agency, the previous owner of “Milly’s” has been banned from keeping animals for life and has been given a suspended prison sentence.
