Spectacular accident late Saturday in East Tyrol: A 17-year-old motorist ran off the road in Lavant, drove more than 40 meters across a field and eventually crashed into trees. The car then caught fire. The driver, who had a positive alcohol test, and his two companions were able to get out of the car unharmed.
The accident happened shortly after 10:30 p.m.: The 17-year-old resident was driving his car on a municipal road in Lavant when he apparently lost control of the vehicle due to excessive speed and went off the road.

“The car then skidded 43 meters over the adjacent field and eventually came to a stop against a group of trees,” police said. The vehicle immediately caught fire.
