A 55-year-old from Pöllauberg (Styria) came home with his wife on Sunday evening when the car suddenly caught fire. 40 firefighters with eight vehicles extinguished the blaze.
The 55-year-old and his wife arrived home around 8 p.m. Immediately after they came out, flames shot out of the engine compartment. The man was able to disconnect the trailer and tried to extinguish the burning car, but could not do it alone. The flames quickly spread to the neighboring farm.
The Pöllau volunteer fire brigade arrived on the scene to extinguish the fire. This required 40 rescuers. The car was a total loss and the building and trailer were also damaged. Police are currently investigating how high and why the fire started.
