The number of corona cases in Austrian hospitals has been falling steadily since August. 1132 people were reported on Tuesday, an increase of 41 from the day before. However, in a weekly comparison, it is a minus of just over three percent. Also as of August 1, 1,559 people were hospitalized. This results in a minus of about 27 percent.
As of Tuesday, there are a total of 65,623 active cases in Austria. In 2553 less than the day before. Compared to August 1, 101,174 active cases were still registered, so their numbers have fallen by 35 percent since then.
Currently 69 people are in intensive care. Last week there were 72. Twelve have been killed since Monday. The seven-day average was 7.1 per day and a total of 50 within a week.
20,628 deaths so far
In total, the corona pandemic has claimed 19,407 deaths in Austria since the outbreak, but the AGES dashboard already reported 20,628 deaths on Monday – the reason for this is the backlog of late notifications from the federal states to the ministries.
In the past 24 hours, a total of 87,256 rapid PCR and antigen tests were performed, of which 66,125 were more meaningful PCR tests with a positive percentage of seven percent of PCR tests. At 6.9 percent, this 24-hour value is almost the average of the past week.
58.9 percent of Austrians are vaccinated
On Monday, 4812 vaccinations were carried out, of which 3759 were booster vaccinations (4th, 5th and each subsequent vaccination dose). According to the recommendation of the National Vaccination Commission, 58.9 percent of Austrians are validly vaccinated.
