The son of the legendary revolutionary “Che” Guevara is dead: Camilo Guevara March died of a heart attack Monday at the age of 60, Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel announced on Tuesday. “It is with deep sadness that we bid farewell to Camilo, Che’s son and promoter of his ideas,” the president wrote on Twitter.
Guevara March, who was director of the Che Guevara study center in Havana, was visiting Caracas, Venezuela, when he suffered a heart attack due to a pulmonary embolism, according to the Prensa Latina news agency.
He was the eldest of five children born to Cuban-Argentine revolutionary Ernesto Guevara, who played a key role in the Cuban Revolution in the 1950s and later fought for social justice in South America. Che Guevara was shot dead by the army in Bolivia in 1967. But he is still revered as a hero outside of Latin America.
