Deadly motorcycle accident Tuesday evening in the Tyrolean Unterland: A 22-year-old motorcyclist lost control of the wheel near Thiersee (Kufstein district), probably due to excessive speed and fell. The young resident slipped on the road and was seriously injured just in front of a steep cliff.
The serious accident happened just before 8 p.m. The 22-year-old Tyrolean was riding his motorcycle on Thiersee Landesstraße towards Germany when he lost control of the wheel and fell into a right-hand bend, probably due to excessive speed.
Passers-by sounded the alarm
“The local eventually came to a stop on the side of the road just before a steep, rocky cliff. Subsequent drivers immediately started the rescue chain,” the police said.
With a helicopter in the clinic
The 22-year-old suffered serious injuries to his chest, shoulder and legs in the accident. After receiving first aid on the spot, he was flown by emergency medical helicopter to the Innsbruck clinic. The motorcycle was a total loss. The Thiersee Landesstraße was closed for the duration of the operation in this area.
