On Wednesday evening, a head-on collision between two cars on the B64 took place in St. Ruprecht an der Raab (Weiz district) in Styria, in which a 21-year-old and a 58-year-old were seriously injured.
At about 7:15 PM, the 21-year-old from the Weiz district was driving his car on the B64 from Weiz in the direction of Gleisdorf. He slipped in the rain at St. Ruprecht/Raab. As a result, he entered the oncoming lane, colliding head on with an oncoming car belonging to a 58-year-old from the Weiz area. Both drivers were alone in the vehicle at the time of the accident and suffered serious injuries.
While the 58-year-old was flown to the LKH Graz in the C12 rescue helicopter, the Red Cross delivered the 21-year-old to the UKH Graz. There was no evidence of alcohol use.
More than 50 firefighters on site
In addition to two rescue vehicles, an emergency doctor and the crew of the Christophorus 12 rescue helicopter were also present. More than 50 emergency services from the St. Ruprecht/Raab and Gleisdorf fire brigades were responsible for the clean-up work at the accident site. Surrounding police patrols supported the initial investigation at the accident site.
The B64 was closed until just before 21:20.
