On Thursday, a Viennese man (29) fell about 100 meters over steep, frozen snow-covered terrain on the Schneeberg. He suffered injuries.
The 29-year-old climbed from the Bürklehütte into the Nandlgrat in the municipality of Puchberg am Schneeberg (Lower Austria) in the afternoon. According to police, he decided to turn back at an altitude of 1,600 meters due to the early time of day.
Even the rescuers were warned
However, after just a few meters the Viennese slipped and fell. The 29-year-old mountaineer was left lying on a rubble field in the “Rote Schütte” area.
He was able to call the emergency services himself. The injured man was rescued by a rope around 3 p.m. and flown by the emergency medical helicopter “Christophorus 17” to the Hochsteiermark state hospital in Bruck an der Mur, police said on Friday.
