The fire in a hunting lodge in the Styrian-Carinthia border region near Stadl an der Mur required emergency services on Friday evening. Fortunately, no people were injured, but three cats died in the fire.
The hunting lodge was severely damaged by the fire on Thursday evening. The 20-year-old resident noticed the fire and was able to jump to safety by jumping out of the window on the first floor.
Cause still unclear
She was unharmed, but police say three cats may have died in the fire. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
When emergency services arrived at the building, located 1,400 meters above sea level, the hunting lodge was already completely ablaze. Firefighting continued into the early morning hours. More than 80 people from the Stadl, Einach, Predlitz, St. Georgen ob Murau, Metnitz, Glödnitz and Weitensfeld fire brigades were present.
Hundreds of thousands of euros in damage
According to initial estimates, the damage will probably amount to several hundreds of thousands of euros, according to the police.
