The Bosnian has allegedly been blatantly abusing the athletes’ trust and proximity for more than 20 years – the youngest victim is just 13 years old. Now he has been sentenced to prison in the Vienna Regional Court!
The first case is said to have taken place more than two decades ago: after the suspect invited a 13-year-old girl to his club for a taster session, he abused her in his apartment. What he described as “consensual kissing” traumatized the victim to the point where she developed an eating and adjustment disorder. This is also confirmed by a psychiatric expert in court: “She wanted to handle it herself and got help too late.”
Seven victims come forward
But it didn’t stop there. He is said to have groped a 15-year-old and grabbed other girls between the legs while stretching. The five girls involved had the courage to entrust themselves to another trainer. After the advertisement, the previous victims also came forward.
Stretching exercises not “state of the art”
On the second day of the trial, other witnesses from the sports club were called. In particular, the trainer, to whom the girls turned, confirmed that the 48-year-old’s methods were not “state of the art”. There are other stretches that are just as effective and don’t require inappropriate touching.
Served for a range of sex crimes
The defendant, meanwhile, claims the exact opposite. He deliberately touched no one: “I may have touched the intimate area during stretching, but not on purpose.” Judge Corinna Huber and the lay judges do not believe him: the acrobatics trainer is sentenced to six and a half years in prison for various sexual offenses – his lawyer Andreas Schweitzer immediately filed a criminal appeal. So the verdict is not final!
