A family walk in Carinthia ended tragically on Thursday. A father died in front of his wife and son.
It should have been a nice walking day, but unfortunately it ended. The family was on their way to the Garnitzenklamm in Hermagor. On the way there, papa (64) suddenly fell to the ground and lay motionless.
First responders who attended immediately rushed to help and began CPR measures. The rescue helicopter crew also tried to resuscitate the man. But without success. The 64-year-old from Germany died at the scene. “The cause of death has been reported as cardiac arrest by the emergency doctor,” the police said.
Due to the exposed alpine terrain, the rescue of the deceased had to be performed by the police helicopter Libelle. The Hermagor police, the local alpine task force, as well as the mountain rescue service, the rescue helicopter RK 1 and the Dragonfly of the FEST Klagenfurt were present.
