Emergency skills are more common in Vienna than you might think. The Schnitzel 50’s also had to be ready quickly.
There are still some aspects of the Wien Energie case that remain in the dark. Many citizens are particularly concerned about the handling of taxpayers’ money. As reported, this involved two 700 million euros for the energy supplier. Mayor Michael Ludwig approved this in mid-July and early in the week.
Five emergency skills since 2020
When it comes to short-term financing, the hat is apparently often on fire in Vienna. With the two pending cases, Mayor Ludwig has already made use of this right five times since 2020. In the fight against Corona in March 2020, there was already more than 35 million euros.
The famous schnitzel vouchers were also handed over to the Viennese by emergency authority. They were also worth several million to the town hall.
Until now, the opposition has always agreed
In March of this year, aid to Ukraine amounted to only a relatively modest EUR 429,000.
Incidentally, all payments were subsequently approved unanimously.
