A 27-year-old from Kremsmünster was arrested in Wels around 7.40 pm on Friday for a driver and vehicle check. When police arrived at the car, they saw that the 27-year-old’s two-and-a-half-year-old son was sitting on his mother’s lap while driving. The officers also noticed a distinct smell of alcohol in the 27-year-old. An alcohol test performed after several attempts revealed alcoholization.
After the driver was informed of the legal situation, she refused the test with the calibrated alcohol dispenser. The driver’s license and car keys were seized on the spot. The police immediately reported the incident to the child and youth care services because of a suspicion of danger to the welfare of the child.

A 36-year-old from Neuhofen drove a low-loader on the B139 from his home address to a waste collection point on Saturday afternoon. He transported a 6-year-old unsecured in the cargo area of the low-loader, although there would have been sufficient space in the passenger compartment.
Although the 36-year-old was asked by a witness about his misconduct, he also placed the child on the cargo bed on the return journey. The reason he gave to the police was that fitting the child seat would have been too time consuming for the short distance home.
