A witness found a 27-year-old man bleeding and seriously injured in the Landstrasse district of Vienna on Sunday night. The man, who had a stab wound to his upper body, was in mortal danger, rescue and police were notified. It is still unclear how the injury came about.
At about 2.30 am the witness heard a scream, shortly afterwards he noticed the heavily bleeding man approaching him on the Barthgasse. He immediately called 112. Officials gave first aid and saw a stab wound above the chest, the 27-year-old was in life-threatening condition.
Rescue workers in Vienna took the victim to hospital and emergency surgery ultimately saved the young man’s life.
Witnesses wanted!
Researchers are still in the dark about how the serious injury came about. The investigation is underway, the organization said. In addition, the police hopes for possible witnesses who have observed something.
