Several people were injured in a total of three knife attacks on Saturday morning and Sunday evening in Vienna. The incidents took place in the city center, in the Leopoldstadt district and probably near the Josefstädter Straße U6 station. In the latter case, the victim (26) could not be questioned because he was in hospital under the influence of alcohol and drugs.
The 26-year-old had stab wounds to his knee and shoulder, police said. He was taken to hospital by paramedics around 8:30 p.m. Further details about the suspected altercation at the metro station are still unclear.
Knife attack in Vienna-Leopoldstadt
The perpetrators of a new knife attack on Sunday around 12.30 pm on the Kratky-Baschik-Weg in the Wurstelprater in Leopoldstadt are also still unknown. There were fights and a scuffle between three people and another group of four people. A man of the quartet allegedly beat a woman and stabbed a 24-year-old in the stomach with a knife.
The four unknown assailants then fled. The 24-year-old was received by the Vienna professional rescue service and taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Another case in the center of Vienna
Already Saturday at 4 o’clock in a restaurant on Morzinplatz in the city center there was a dispute between two couples. After the four people were evicted from the restaurant, the argument escalated outside. There were fights between the two women, ages 21 and 36, as well as between the men.
A 22-year-old allegedly inflicted two stab wounds on his 47-year-old opponent. The suspect has also been arrested in this case. The 47-year-old was taken to hospital.
