A 41-year-old is suspected of repeatedly threatening his divorcing wife (35) and his own daughter (13) in Leibnitz (Styria) and setting a car on fire. Leibniz police officers arrested the man. He is now in custody.
The emergency services were called to Kaindorf an der Sulm around 07:15 on Sunday. A parked car caught fire in a company parking lot. 18 troops of the Kaindorf/Sulm fire brigade extinguished the fire. No one was injured, but the material damage was enormous. Police officers immediately started the investigation. They also found the first indications of possible arson.
Ex-wife threatened
Extensive investigations and securing evidence at the crime scene eventually led to a 41-year-old Turk from the Leibnitz district. He is strongly suspected of setting the car on fire. It is the vehicle of a friend of his divorcing wife (35). The arson was preceded by massive threats against the 35-year-old.
Two days earlier, he threatened to kill the woman and also threatened to set her car on fire. Two days later, he should have carried out his plan.
Own daughter forced and robbed
Further investigation revealed that the 41-year-old is also suspected of repeatedly threatening his daughter (13) for months. He allegedly hit her with his hands and fists. In addition, he would have regularly begged and forced the 13-year-old for her pocket money.
The 41-year-old apparently did not hesitate to drag his child to the open window on the third floor of the apartment. There he forced her to hand over 50 euros in pocket money and threatened to throw her out the window. The 41-year-old is said to have stolen about 500 euros in cash from his daughter.
41-year-old in custody
Police officers from Leibnitz arrested the 41-year-old on Sunday by order of the public prosecutor in Graz. During questioning, the man refused to provide any information. The court had previously issued a preliminary injunction against him, forbidding him to return to his ex-wife’s apartment and surroundings. The man had violated this. Now he has been taken to Graz-Jakomini Prison and is incarcerated.
